South Beach’s longest-running weekly newspaper, Wire Weekly, hired me to redesign their magazine on three separate occasions. Once for a tots update, and twice for new formats/dimensions. The old format was a dated, vertical newspaper format. By the time you finished reading, you would literally have ink on your fingers from all the black squeezed onto the page. When I redesigned, I pushed more images and stressed a clean design aesthetic. My years at the Miami Herald taught me the importance of white space, and I incorporated a lot of it for this client. I also reformatted the paper to a more contemporary size that can fit in rack alongside an actual magazine. One of our inaugural issues featured Chelsea Handler on the cover, and if I do say so myself, she the updated format looked great on her.
