I am a design director living in New York. I love travel. Since I was a kid and my parents took me to England (I got to sit in the cockpit for landing!) I’ve loved travel. I’ve been to many US states, and quite a few countries in South America, including Brazil, where I lived. I speak Portuguese fluently, and understand Spanish very well. My next language course will be Italian, then Mandarin. When I was at a speech in high school in Orlando, the speaker said, “Find what you love to do, and get paid to do it.” At that time, I was editor of the yearbook, and that book won the gold crown – the highest honor in the nation for yearbook design.

The cards were dealt. Phone calls and e-mails began pouring in from recruiters of universities, and I decided on the University of Miami. With one of the best journalism programs in the country, I knew I was investing in a program that would take me places. From student to intern at the Miami Herald, UM gave me many opportunities.

I landed a job at The Herald after graduation. It was like winning the lottery for a recent graduate. Amazing people to learn from, daily deadlines, and tons of exposure. From designer to art director, The Herald to ad agencies, and finally creative director of a world class city, my career exploded at light speed, eventually catapulting me to New York.

Along the way, I added international clients to my book, met and worked with a few celebrities, and even had a few marketing pieces that went viral. I’m now a seasoned designer and design director, but young and fresh enough to brainstorm on the fly, draw a story board in a few seconds, and kick butt at Just Dance 2.
